My celebrity percussionist

 My celebrity percussionist is Mr. Rakitha Wickramarathne and he is also my Latin percussion master. He is one of the best percussionist in the world. According to me in present days he is the best percussionist in Sri Lanka. Let's see who is this magical artist.

Rakitha Wickramarathne started his percussion journey with Sri Lankan drums. His master is Mr. Piyasara shilpadhipathi. After that in 2003 as a royalist and as a percussionist he had great apportunity to represnt SAGA concert. Forunatly he could find another side of his percussion skills. It is Latin Percussion. Then he started to learn about Latin percussion. In 2004 he found out the world best percussion instrument company. It is LP and finally he was able to become a sponserd artist of LP company in 2007. Not only that he started the NAADRO percussion band for making another magical experiance in percussion side of Sri Lanka. In present days Naadro band is very popular percussion band in the world.

In 2023 he could make an amizing change of the percussion field in Sri Lanka. He launched the fibre Sri Lanakn drums called 'TECH BHERI' and it is a good product and specially we can use it for recordings tours and so many things. That day he launched 3 fibre drums such as Thammattama, Yak beraya and Dawula. I think it is a big victory for us. in 2025 he launched his customized percussion rig amd it is the biggest customized percussion rig in South Asia. That event name was 'BERAKITHA'.

  Art is an important thing to our personal life and our society. Craft is the basement of art. So if we don't mastering the craft we can't make the art. The bond of art and craft is like bark on a tree. The art is making from the work of people. It's called human process. I would like to show you some arts who made from the result of human process.     This is some arts namely  dancing, singing, acting and painting.  All these subjects was made by the result of  human process. For an example, if we want to be a good dancer, we should do the practices every day. If we don't do the practices we can't be a good dancer. So practice means mastering and mastering helps to create a new art. And we have to study other dancing styles. My Favourite Dancing Style

    My favourite dancing style is Low Country dancing style. It is the main Dancing tradition in three areas in our country. There are Mathara, Benthara & Raigama. The main peace ceremony of this dancing style is called 'Dewol Maduwa' and the story of  Dewol Maduwa is based on King Seramaan.         This is the main drum of  Low Country dancing tradition. It is called 'Yak Beraya'. Kithul, Ehela, Pol, Kohomba are the types of wood using to make Yak Beraya.        This is the main costume of Low Country dancing tradition. It is called 'Thelme Costume'.
